BioNames: Giacomo Casanova, the Chevalier de Seingalt, Giac.
Background: Born to an actress who abandoned him and thought him an idiot (as he did not speak, something he has in common with his son) he was sent away to school where he finally spoke after a sexual encounter with a servant girl. After school he moved to Venice, penniless though playing the role of a nobleman in borrowed items, living mainly on his intelligence, wit and cunning. He earned a living by turning his hand to anything someone might need. He has had what in his eyes could be termed long term relationships with Bellino (a woman who pretended to be a castrato) and Henriette (his true love who was married to another man, but who loved him too) and his best friend was his valet Rocko, He became genuinely rich thanks to a priest who’s life he saved, but was arrested by Henriette’s ex fiance as an act of revenge for stealing her away from him. He escaped from the prison, went on the run to France to clear this name and invented the lottery and became rich again, however he lost all his money and property in a card game and went to England, where he was involved in an illegal duel with Henriette’s husband and so had to go on the run again. He also has at least two children, a daughter to Bellino and a son to a nun and a scar on his hand from being shot.
Personality: Casanova is friendly, charming, honest about his feelings (though little else), very intelligent and witty. He is a lover, loving women intensely, but briefly without reserve. He is also inventive and forward thinking (he had much more modern ideas than most people in the 18th century), adventurous and passionate, both in the bedroom and in his general life. He also likes to be well dressed at all times, although he was not born to noble stock he likes to appear noble and has created his own title ’Chevalier de Seingalt’ Despite what others might think he truly cared about and remembered every woman he ever slept with. He craves attention and approval from others and is more interested in love and making people happy than sex.
